CFPB ISSUES HPML ESCROW EXEMPTION

On January 19. 2021, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued a final rule amending section 1026.35 of Regulation Z to implement a requirement of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act (EGRRCPA). HPML ESCROW EXEMPTION THRESHOLD INCREASED FOR 2021

For 2021, the CFPB amended the official commentary that interprets the requirements of Regulation Z (Truth in Lending) to reflect a change in the asset size threshold for certain creditors to qualify for an exemption to the requirement to establish an escrow account for a higher-priced mortgage loan (HPML). HPML ESCROW EXEMPTION THRESHOLD INCREASED
