First Credit Union To Settle Redlining Complaint

Last week, the DOJ (Department of Justice) announced that Citadel Federal Credit Union agreed to pay more than $6.5 million to resolve redlining allegations, marking the DOJ’s first such settlement with a credit union. On July 27, 2022, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) took action to end Trident Mortgage Company’s intentional discrimination against families living in majority-minority neighborhoods in the greater Philadelphia area.
