Board Reporting: The Security Perspective

Description:

Regulations require the Security Officer to report to the board at least annually on the implementation, administration, and effectiveness of the institution’s security program. But the regulations don’t provide a roadmap for what that report should contain—or how to make it meaningful to directors and senior management.
This session goes beyond simply meeting the annual reporting requirement. Participants will learn how to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of the security program using meaningful facts, statistics, training records, inspections, security incidents, foreseeable events, and other information the board needs to understand.
The session will also examine practical techniques for preparing and presenting the annual security report, communicating security needs effectively, supporting requests for resources, and documenting issues that can help protect both the institution and its board.
Join us to:

  • Identify the key information that should be included in the annual security report to the board.
  • Evaluate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the institution’s security program using meaningful data, trends, incidents, training records, inspections, and other relevant information.
  • Present security risks and priorities in a clear, concise way that helps directors and senior management understand why they matter.
  • Build a stronger case for security resources and investments by connecting identified risks and needs to the institution’s overall security program.
  • Improve documentation and reporting practices to help demonstrate appropriate board oversight and protect both the institution and its directors.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of what to report, why it matters, and how to present security information in a way that gets the board‘s attention.
