Description:

“Keeping up” is the most common training goal for compliance and lending personnel. Since the late 1960’s, the steady stream of new consumer laws and regulations has been continuously supplemented by revisions of previously issued regulations. Often, compliance errors occur simply because the lender was unaware of the change.

2026 has been a busy year for compliance. In this two part series we’ll cover changes, updates, and developments that have taken place in the last 12 months.

Final changes to Regulation B, including changes affecting disparate impact, discouragement, and Special Purpose Credit Programs, as well as significant revisions to the Section 1071 small business lending rule, are among the key developments lenders need to understand. The Community Reinvestment Act also remains an important area to watch as the agencies reconsider the 2023 CRA rule and continue applying the existing CRA framework. Mortgage lending requirements, HMDA reporting, fair lending, and other consumer compliance expectations continue to evolve as well.

Part One takes place January 12th and Part Two takes place January 14th.
